Currently, jewelry making is my hobby. I love every aspect...finding unique and interesting beads and findings, finding deals and discounts, sorting and organizing my supplies, making new items, and most of all smiles when people like what I've made. I dabble in other crafts as well and consider myself a life long crafter/maker. I always have a project handy. At 5, I learned to sew for myself and my dolls using my now cherished Singer Featherweight. My mother and grandmothers were all crafty and I learned different things from each of them. I joined 4-H in the 4th grade and chose Fashion and Citizenship as my projects. Crafting exploration continued and I found ways to use my skills to give back to others. Being in 4-H allowed me a chance to experience and fall in love with Japan. I fell in love with traditional Japanese crafts. I have so many interests and not enough time to commit fully to each, but beading gives me great variety of techniques and relatively immediate gratification and sense of completion. I don't get to spend as much time crafting as I would like, but I love every minute I spend doing it.
