Get to Know
Hello! My name is Peg. Thank you for checking out my shop!I have been making jewelry for about 7 years now. It all started with a gift certificate to the local craft store that my sister gave me. I was looking for something new to try and I bought a few beads and some wire. Then I bought some more beads, and some more. Soon I had bags of necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Well, my wonderful boyfriend (and helpful business consultant) offered to take some of my jewelry to his job and see if he could sell some for me. He worked in a restaurant, and the waitresses had their tip money at the end of the night, so he worked his charm on them and sweet-talked them into buying my baubles!! Next step, I entered into some local craft shows. I've done several shows during the last 4 years all over Michigan. And finally, last August, I opened my Etsy shop. Being on Etsy is so much fun. I've learned a lot and other sellers here are very helpful. I've learned a lot from them! The rest, as they say, is history............ Now I can't STOP making jewelry! I've got tons of jewelry now that I have created and I just keep making more. It's taking over my life and my house. Please help me out by buying one (or two) of my beauties..I'm running out of room. Soon I'll have to decide between my boyfriend and my beads; and my boyfriend is a really nice guy!! But, oh, my beads are so pretty! The name of my shop, Abacus Bead Creations, came from my day-time (bill-paying) job as an accountant. An abacus is an ancient calculating tool used in many parts of the world for performing arithmetic processes. There are also beads called abacus beads that can be used in jewelry making. So I tied my two passions together to come up with my shop name. And somehow, the anal accountant in me comes through in my bead work. Many of my necklaces, especially the multi-strand ones, have intricate patterns in them that I make using various colors of seed beads strung into repeating patterns. Use the zoom feature when looking at my pictures and you will see what I mean. Some of these necklaces take me days to put together, but it's what I love to do!! Thank you so much for sharing in my passion for a while, come in, relax and wander around all you want. And if you do buy anything from my shop, first of all thank you, and second, I would LOVE to get your feedback on your purchase! I want you to enjoy wearing my jewelry as much as I enjoyed making it!!
