Get to Know
Hello, and welcome to my Art Fire shop! I'm a vegetarian, an environmentalist, and an animal lover who enjoys working with beautiful natural materials to create wearable art. The name of my shop refers both to my own name and to the title of a classic play by Noel Coward (Blithe Spirit), which in turn refers to the first line of Shelley's poem -"To a Skylark" (1820). "Blithe" means joyful, so I like to think that my jewellery creations are an expression of my own "blithe spirit."
I am moved by the beauty of semi-precious stones and find that just touching them can bring a sense of peace, harmony, and groundedness, so I aim to create jewellery (for both men and women) that is enjoyable to wear and evokes a sense of oneness with nature. Animals in various forms are a frequent presence in my creations, and I'm also interested in expressions of spirituality and other cultures. I'm also drawn to glass, crystal, pearls, wood, mother-of-pearl, and ceramic beads, so you'll see a little bit of everything in my work. I also enjoy working with polymer clay, making functional art items such as high-quality pens, soap dishes, and containers. I'm now focusing on making steampunk items, a few of which you'll find here in my Artfire shop. I usually have many more items than are listed, so if you are looking for something in particular, please don't hesitate to contact me.
