The Artist and The Jewelry About the Jewelry:
Welcome! I'm Mary Blaire Wolf, Designer/Owner of San Francisco Bay Area Hi-Strung Designs Jewelry, and I offer a collection of luxury artisan jewelry meticulously handcrafted with top quality materials. Having designed jewelry for more than 14 years, I am an absolute perfectionist when it comes to quality and meticulous craftsmanship. I carefully choose richly colored, fine-grade (grade AAA-A) gemstones such as amethyst, aquamarine, pink sapphire, ruby, garnet, lapis lazuli, citrine, chalcedony, carnelian, lemon quartz and smoky quartz. My pieces also incorporate high-quality materials such as sparkling genuine Swarovski crystals, grade-A freshwater pearls, supple leather and suede cord, and precious metals: 14K gold-filled, rose gold overlay, sterling silver and vermeil. Each piece is my original design, and I personally hand-craft each item.
My focus is on easily wearable pieces in deceptively simple styles that catch your eye with their clean lines and beautiful, sparkling stones. Behind each piece is a complex design process that specifically highlights the rich color, texture and glow of just one or a few gemstones. Every single choice, from the chain to the number of wire wraps to the type of clasp, must lend itself perfectly to the balance of the design.
About Mary Blaire Wolf:
Even as a little girl, I loved to collect sparkly rocks; bins of them cluttered the family garage, much to my father's dismay. Now, I spend hours personally examining thousands of gemstones, and I only bring home the ones that meet my high standards for color, faceting and texture. Back in my studio, I hand-select the individual stones for every piece of jewelry I make.
My first fashion inspiration came from my mother, always well dressed and polished, with an amazing sense of style, grace and elegance. She taught me about fashion and timeless style, and the value of fine materials, high-quality construction and impeccable attention to detail.
Today, I am inspired by the world around me, whether driving through the wooded hillsides of Northern California, browsing at the farmer's market or sailing with my husband in the magical turquoise-blue waters of the Caribbean. And with each design, I highlight the intrinsic beauty and character of the gemstones and crystals themselves.
Like many young girls, my first foray into jewelry design was making friendship bracelets and beaded necklaces. Loving everything having to do with fashion, I started my retail career at the age of 16. Even then, I had decided that one of my dreams was to one day launch my own business.
After college, I moved to NYC, to continue to grow the successful and exciting career that I was enjoying in retail. While doing that, I also discovered the many amazing bead and gem stores there, and my jewelry designs continued to evolve, as did my career, with a move to San Francisco.
Then, after 20 years working in both retail management and corporate human resources for large specialty retailers in New York and San Francisco, I made the decision to walk away from the corporate world in 2005 and I never looked back. A year later, I founded Hi-Strung Designs.
I am thrilled to spend every day following my passion to create beautiful jewelry for women who appreciate high-quality materials and expert craftsmanship. Every time I send a package off to a customer, I feel like I'm sending a gift, handmade with love.
With so many things in our world today being mass produced, the emotional connection around the things we purchase is all but disappearing; things like the special feeling of "having a one-of-a-kind design, "having a connection with the artisan who made it" and "knowing the story of what inspired the design".
I value those things, and my customers do too, which is why I personally handcraft every single piece, I share with you the story behind what inspired the design of that piece, and why most every piece I make is a one-of-a-kind.
I want you to feel special when you wear Hi-Strung Designs Jewelry, and to remember how much quality and love I put into each piece, so that you can enjoy it for years. --Mary
