KarenGcontemporaryartist, Colombian Visual artist
Karen G is a Colombian artist who currently lives in Indianapolis. Her beginnings at the School of Fine Arts in Barranquilla at a very young age, the influence of her father who is an antiquarian and who exposed her to great Colombian artists such as Alvaro Barrios and Eduardo Celis, as well as her art history classes with Miryan Hernández made her youth artistically stimulated. There was a pause in her artistic life due to her medical career. However, she managed to express her creativity by choosing a specialty in surgery. Upon emigrating to the United States, she returned to art with the Macondo series. This series, inspired by the Nobel Prize work of Garcia Marquez in "One Hundred Years of Solitude," was later presented at the Lienzos Americanos exhibition at the Circle South Gallery. She has also exhibited her work at the Garfield Park Art Center and Eiteljorg Museum. Karen G has collaborated with various associations such as SADCO and is currently working on the Latin Divas series.
Her work is full of vivid colors that balance the warmth of the tropics with the freshness of the north winds, while captivating sparkles of crystals, stones, and golden leaves. Her sensibility is displayed whether she is portraying the indomitable human spirit or the magnetic beauty of the woman's body. Her art always leaves you enthusiastic and longing for transcendence. It reflects the attention to detail of a trained surgeon and the versatility of an artist from the land of magical realism.
