Get to Know

It all started for me in the late 70's. My best friend's mom was a trained seamstress from England, and was very generous with her skills, teaching both myself and her daughters the finer points of garment construction. I took any art classes I could find in high school and college, exposing myself to stained glass construction, pottery making and drawing. I sold at craft fairs with my mom, and was soon drawn to quilting, mostly for the fabric. I love the texture and limitless design possibilities, and my stash reflects my love of batiks and patterns filled with color. I loved making original quilts, but found that the time it takes to create one did not satisfy my creative spirit on a daily basis. I turned back to crafting small items and selling them in various venues. Fast forward to 2008 when I eventually connected with three friends, and we began an informal group who meets to craft, comb resale shops and rummage sales, and sell items as a group in our community. The resale shops and rummage sales were inspirational! Who knew all of the old linens, hankies and embellished jeans there were out there, just waiting to be turned into practical items?! These finds lead to my current line of recycled jeans bags and aprons made out of beautiful, reclaimed linens. Each creation is unique, and I strive to provide my clients with quality items, while keeping the spirit of reuse and recycle at the forefront. I will occassionally feature items that are "CO-OPS"; items I have created with my talented friends, or they have created via our cooperative group environment. Look for these with the "CO-OP" designation!
