Image Description
Natural howlite graduated spike statement necklace. These chunky turquoise needle spike beads are approximately 20~50mm arranged in a graduated pattern for a boho ethnic tribal look. They have been dyed a dark cobalt or lapis blue and would be stunning for that southwestern look and terrific with jeans. Also this fabulous color would do well with a low neck style dress. The length is a little over 17 inches and it is finished with a silver plated lobster clasp. Thank you for shopping with 123 Gemstones, we are a smoke free home. Howlite, a calcium borosilicate hydroxide, is a borate mineral found in evaporite deposits. Howlite was discovered near Windsor, Nova Scotia in 1868 by Henry How (1828–1879), a Canadian chemist, geologist, and mineralogist. How was alerted to the unknown mineral by miners in a gypsum quarry. He called the new mineral silico-boro-calcite; it was given the name howlite by James Dwight Dana shortly thereafter.
