Amethyst Druzy Rough Crystal & Solid Sterling Silver Necklace

This is a highly polished slice of natural pale amethyst, 1-9/16" wide x 1-3/16" high x 9/32' thick. It hangs by its sterling bail on sterling manufactured chain in three 2-1/4" sections, with two 1/3" (8mm) lilac faceted crystal glass stations on each side, totalling four stations. The sterling clasp, handmade by me, is 1-1/2" long overall and 1/4" wide, with 4mm crystal accents on each side. And in all of my silver work, the sterling silver is just that - solid sterling, not the "sterling filled" we're seeing a lot of lately. Any metal labelled "filled" - be it gold or sterling - is actually a super-heavy plating, comprising just 5% of the substance; thus the phrase "1/20-14k GF" for example.

The glossy, dark strip you see across the top is the natural substrate upon which the crystals formed, spontaneously, many eons ago. It has been cleaned up and polished along with the gem structure itself; leaving some of that intact helps ensure stability of the crystal formation as presented.

It's been wire-wrapped into an integral, handmade bail of solid sterling silver ~ twisted into a fluid & flexible-looking, yet work-hardened, rope effect ~ which could lend itself to a rodeo vibe, or not, depending how you wear it. You can wear this anywhere, with anything, from barbeques to dinner parties. It can really add *pop* to your business or office wear. It hangs about 1-1/2" to 2" below the collarbone ~ so could go over a turtleneck to hang high, or inside a lower neckline to rest directly on your skin. It's smooth and comfortable, with no scratchy parts.

This is a very distinctive piece, of which you'll never tire; it has heirloom potential.
