Pistacia lentiscus is an evergreen shrub that is mainly found on the Greek Island of Chios, it is famous for the aromatic resin (Mastic) that it naturally produces. Mastic resin has been used as a folk remedy for several thousand years. The essential oil is extracted from the resin and is used as a massage or aromatherapy oil.

Lentiscus essential oil has a warm balsamic, spicy, woody, earthy aroma. It is classed as a middle to base note essential oil.
