Vintage LUCITE MOONGLOW Ruby Red BEADS 9mm pkg6 res 318
Vintage ruby red moonglow lucite beads. These beads are not an orange red but definitely more of a cranberry red which hopefully has been reproduced for you to see in the photographs.Whats incredible about how these beads were made ( and I rarely found this style of moonglow) is that the hole was drilled slightly off center. This was done intentionally in order to force the beads to line up on a necklace with their best moonglow effect all in the same orientation - all facing up!Ive included one picture of a single bead so you can see what I mean about how the hole was placed slightly off center.I absolutely fell in love with these beads when we found them in 1979 in London during one of our very first buying trips there to the antique district on Portobello Road. Each bead has an iridescent moon-glow shine when the light hits them just right which is why this term was coined. You can see this in the photographs.Lucite, introduced by DuPont in 1937, was cheaper to produce and therefore replaced bakelite for use in costume jewelry as early as the very early 1940s. The moonglow style of lucite is very recognizable by the glow that it has and is now considered quite collectible. These beads in particular, as I said, are unlike any I've come across since originally finding them so many year .
Price is for 10 of these 9mm beads which I 100% guarantee to be vintage and purchased in London in 1979 but are undoubtedly much older - most likely from the 1950s-1960s.They are wonderful for the upcoming holidays and are light as a feather because they are made from resin.I sold many of these vintage lucite moonglow beads through trunk shows at Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue during the 1980s.Youll never see bakelite beads like this nowadays at your neighborhood gem show! You can read more about my career as a jewelry designer in my profile page!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: POSTAGE RATES HAVE RISEN DRAMATICALLY IN 2020
ORDERS INSIDE USA: A charge of $4.00 covers any first class shipment up to 15 ounces. Our beads vary so much in weight that it is impossible for us to apply a single add-on charge for multiple product orders. We will continue to refund to customers any amount that greatly exceeds our actual cost of shipping and handling.
ORDERS OUTSIDE USA: International First Class rates are now crazy: $16.50 for any package weighing from 1-5 ounces. Even an order for 2-3 small bead items may cost $16.50 or more, depending on the type of material (stone versus resin, for example). We apologize in advance if we have to adjust the postage cost of an order that has been placed. We will understand if an order is rescinded when the postage cost is too high relative to the product value.
All international orders have contents described as "loose beads" and are flagged as "commercial samples" or " gift" if you prefer to make your life easier when receiving your beads. If you'd like us to mark your order as " gift" instead please let us know!
All our beads are inspected one by one before being shipped. They are individually wrapped to protect them and then put in little plastic ziploc bags.
All vintage beaded jewelry is either shipped in a little gift box tied with a ribbon or in a vintage Chinese embroidered silk purse.

Love my beads! The coloring in the epidote was not as intense as illustrated, but it is certainly a good example of the mineral. The colors in the unakite beads are wonderful. The quality of the carving I would rate as good to excellent.
Nice beads!! Super fast thanks a lot!!!
I have dreamed of having a necklace such as the jade one. But the red one. That was a surprise. Both are beautiful. Thank you! Best, Jane
Lovely color;!interesting stones.
When I thought that I had ordered two of these and then checked out I had to order another set. The seller was very kind and combined my two orders and refunded my shipping.
