Frolicking Faerie, Brave, With Stone on Scrollwork Bail in Sterling Si
This charming pendant is part of my Frolicking Faerie Collection of fantasy jewelry. The faerie featured here is Brave, full of confidence and daring. This faerie pendant is sculpted three dimensionally so as she moves on your neck she looks beautiful from every angle, even the back of the bail is detailed. Scrollwork is featured on both the bail of this fantasy pendant as well as the faeries wings which tie the two together to make a truly magical piece of fantasy jewelry. There are 5 other figures that are available, 4 faeries and 1 mermaid: Spirit, Joy, Clarity, Bliss and Tranquil. See the last photo to view these other enchanting sprites.
The triangular bail features an 8mm round Labradorite cabochon. I also have Black Star Diopside, Lapis Lazuli, Citrine, Amethyst, Garnet, Black Spinel, Sunstone, Rainbow Moonstone, Honey Quartz, Turquoise and Pale Green Prehnite. Please let me know which stone you would like set with your pendant, and if the stone you have in mind isn't listed let me know and I'll see if I can get it for you.
1 7/8 inches, with the Brave Faerie being 1 7/8 inches tall and the bail is 3/4 of an inch wide. The faerie is attached to the scrollwork bail with a jump ring allowing her to twist and turn as you move, taking on a life of her own. The bail will accept a thick 4mm cord or chain and is Pandora friendly. A woven black leather cord is included with the handmade fantasy pendant.
As with all of my work this piece of fantasy jewelry is my original design was created using the lost wax method. I first start by doing a detailed drawing of my intended subject. Then I sculpt my design in wax. I start with overall shape and form, making sure all the individual pieces are proportional to each other, then adding detail such as facial features, fingers, toes, hair and scrollwork wings. After the wax sculpture is complete it is cast in sterling silver, excess metal is removed, rough polished, linked together, soldered, patina applied, stone set then completed by a final polish. It is a time consuming process, but one that I thoroughly enjoy. For more detailed information on my wax sculpting and casting process go to www.mystcswan.biz and look at the "Creation Process" and "Wax Sculpting" sections. The only purchased parts of this handmade faerie necklace is the stone, jump ring and leather cord.
The photo of the necklace being worn is of the faerie spirit with the same style of bail. It is a different faerie, but it should still give a good idea of the proportion of the silver pendant.
The inspiration for my Frolicking Faerie Collection came when browsing through my newest Live Model figure drawing reference book. Since many of my themes use figures based on the human form I've gained quiet a selection of reference books. The most recent one had the models jumping on trampolines, running, flying through the air and even on a trapeze. I couldn't help but think of faeries doing much the same, only with their wings propelling them rather than mechanical devises. I started sketching combining this thought with an element from my "Magic Foretold" maiden and dragon pendant, the scrollwork of the medallion which I use on the oval and triangular linked pieces as well as the faeries wings. Sometimes I design a larger static piece so I can incorporate more background elements, but this time I wanted to keep the movement that I saw in my original source so decided to link the elements together. This opened up other options; being able to use the different faeries and design components in multiple ways. The original design was for a 5 faerie necklace (still my favorite of the collection), but can also assemble it with just 3 or 1 faerie. I can also use the links to make earrings and bracelets. I designed to versions of bails, one with a stone and one without as other options in the collection. If you see a combination of elements that I don't have listed please contact me and I'll let you know if I can make it for you. Also look in the mermaid section of my shop for more pendants and bracelets made in this style.
There is also a tube shaped bail without a stone as well as necklaces with single or multiple faeries. Want matching earrings? I have those too. See the Faeries section of my shop.
