Details

Emerald Green & Blue Trillion Handmade Dichroic Fused Glass Cabochon. One of my handmade dichroic fused art glass cabochons in rich greens and blues. This cabochon was created by firing dichroic glass over a black glass base. This trillion cabochon is approximately 33mm x 33mm.

This cabochon is ready for your beading, PMC, metalwork or wire wrapping purposes. It has a channeled edge ready for wire wrapping. This channel virtually disappears once the cab is set into a netted bezel or other setting styles.

All of my cabs are fired & annealed in a digitally controlled, energy efficient kiln using compatible glass.

I do my best to provide accurate pictures and descriptions however different monitors may change the colors shown.

Inspiration/Story Behind This Product

I have been making these dichroic fused art glass cabochons for over five years. I like precise shapes with clean edges.

My cabochons generally take two firings in the kiln. I fuse the dichroic glass into a slab first. Then I ponder the best use of the slab before I settle on the shapes I'm going to cut. After I mark these shapes I cut them out on a ring saw. After that I use my grinder to clean up the edges and put a small bevel on the edge of the cabochon. Then I switch to a channeling bit which puts a narrow channel or groove into the edge of the cabochon for wire wrapping. If the top of the cab isn't even I pull out the flat top grinder an grind the top flat. I lay them out onto the kiln shelf and paint them with a devitrification solution to ensure they come out nice and shiny. Once they are cooled I quality check them. If I'm not happy more grinding, channeling and another firing commence!
