Fine silver ivory bead and earrings with 18" sterling silver chain
This is ivory colored glass when I start making the bead and after the fine silver is wrapped around it, it changes color as the silver reacts with the glass.
How these beads are made:
To make the glass beads, I heat a glass rod with a torch until it is molten and the consistency of thick honey. Then it is wrapped around a steel mandrel and shaped. After this, the fine silver (.999 silver) wire is wrapped around the bead and slowly heated so it melts. The earring beads are made the same way. All the beads then go into the kiln to be annealed; a process which takes about 8 hours. Annealing removes internal stress that builds up in the glass during creation.
The chain with the bead is sterling silver and the 2 mm beads on the chain nicely complement the silver in the bead. The chain is also available in 16" or 20".
The ear wires are sterling silver also.
Since every bead is made by hand, please allow for some differences in the bead with the photograph.
